Summary: Sesshoumaru informs Kagome of a challenge by his Fourth wife.
Kagome crossed her arms and inspected the young woman closely. She blew out a breath and turned to her husband, well, one of her husbands. "Is this why you called me away from home?"
Sesshoumaru glowered at her. He didn't like her tone, but unlike his other wives, Kagome could get away with it. She considered herself special. Being First wife had its advantages. He growled. "She is going to be the new Fourth wife."
Kagome nodded, but the demon woman wasn't having any of it.
"You want me to be Fourth to a human? The rumors are true. This family is mad!" she squawked, and despite the woman's hysterics, Kagome appeared calm and slightly amused.
"Do you know who this is?" Sesshoumaru snarled at her, and instantly she cowered away.
"Sesshoumaru, it's alright," Kagome said in a soft voice. She smiled at the woman and bowed. "I'm Higurashi Kagome, nice to meet you."
The female youkai was flabbergasted at her politeness. It wasn't always common to jump into a marriage where the groom already had wives. Kagome would never understand Youkai laws. At least her other husband, Inuyasha, only had her, and for someone that jealous, Kagome was surprised he allowed her to marry his brother. However, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha did dip into their own salacious activities once in awhile, so it was a wonder for the true source of the hanyou's jealousy. Ah, well. All in the family, right?"
"So what's the problem?" Kagome asked.
Sesshoumaru sniffed. "She wants to challenge you for First wife."
Kagome sighed unhappily. She looked at the young female dog youkai with dark hair, and Kagome wondered if she was black when she transformed. "Alright," Kagome said. "Let me get my bow. When is this taking place?"
"Dawn," Sesshoumaru said, but then he turned around and did something quite obnoxious. He pulled her against his body and looked at her heatedly. Kagome grimaced and shot him a scowl. "You will succeed, correct?" Suddenly, as Kagome looked into his eyes, she forgot the other woman was even there. So did Sesshoumaru, apparently.
"Hey, don't ignore me! And quit talking like I've already lost the match. Do you know who I am? I'm royalty!" she screamed at them. Sesshoumaru looked annoyed; Kagome pitied her.
"How many demons have I purified since I was trained to be priestess, Sesshoumaru? Not counting Naraku, of course."
The female demon gaped at her, obviously recognizing the name. Then Sesshoumaru spoke, "There was that tyrant in the Northern Mountains. Bobcat youkai I believe." The Fourth wife looked like she was going to be sick.
"I warned you, woman. Do you still want to fight her?" Sesshoumaru asked, and the female demon shook her head and scurried away inside the palace.
"Oh, shoot, I was looking forward to some practice." Kagome pouted, but Sesshoumaru drew her close and growled dangerously against her ear.
"I'll give you something to practice," he said, and he was already tearing away at her kimono.
