Nice look into Claire here. She is so complicated. She sees herself as a good guy, yet eagerly wants to torture someone. You make it clear that she has completely deluded herself into thinking Elle deserves it. Claire is living in such a dark place and you show that so well.

I am really sympathizing with Elle here. I am afraid to "turn the page." (Great job at evoking emotions out of your reader!)
