Summary: Amy makes an impression on the TARDIS.
Amy Pond had been doodling cartoons her entire life, especially of herself and the Doctor, and the hobby morphed into constructing dolls or playing make-believe with Rory or Jeff. Amy continued to draw - getting older didn't stop that, and now that she was actually going on adventures with the Doctor, it seemed only natural she would draw again.
To decorate the bedroom the Doctor gave her inside the TARDIS, she first drew the Star Whale, and when the drawing of her Star Whale seemed lonely, she drew a self-portrait with a much more defined Doctor, and she speckled the wall with little doodles and sketches. Once satisfied, she took a break and wandered off to search for that pool again. When she returned, her Star Whale picture was gone.
Curious, she approached the Doctor about her mystery. "Doctor, have you seen my..." She stopped. She had no idea how it would even turn up here, but the Doctor's time machine was beyond extraordinary. She noticed the Star Whale affixed to the console in the middle, and she frowned.
"Oh, so you have it," she said, miffed and surprised.
"Ah, it suddenly popped up," the Doctor replied. When she met his eyes, she didn't doubt his innocence. He smiled patting the ship. "It seems she likes it."
Amy looked around the ship in wonder, and she remembered the Doctor telling her that the TARDIS yielded a mind of its own. She sighed, resolving to let the ship keep her drawing. Quickly, she accepted that her picture was there and felt proud whenever she noticed it. A big disappointment came when their next adventure forced them into a rather tricky landing, and the distressed Doctor spilled tea all over it.
For the TARDIS, however, Amy was more than happy to draw another one.

on 2010-04-21 07:53 pm (UTC)And the TARDIS keeping the drawing for herself is so cute. I think she needs a little change from time to time. Too bad the Doctor spilled tea on it, but it's bound to happen...

on 2010-04-21 07:56 pm (UTC)I think Amy's art is an important part of her personality. I'm glad you're exploring that in your own fic. ;)

on 2010-04-21 08:19 pm (UTC)"I don't know, I don't know!" Amy glanced back at the door, certain that that... thing was going to crash through at any moment, "I... I think I just electrocuted an overgrown space piranha," she continued in a disbelieving tone, looking down at the taser gun she was still gripping as she struggled to stop her hands from shaking.
Oh god, it was the same creature that tried to attack her and Moff and it clearly still recognized her after all these years. She bit back a swear as a badly muffled snicker from the Doctor broke her out of her thoughts.
"Oh, I'm glad this amuses you," she snarked with a roll of her eyes as she reholstered the gun, Scottish accent becoming thicker by the second, "You sure the cricket bat didn't knock a few screws loose up there?"
He shook his head vigorously, almost as if clearing the cobwebs from his head, "No no no, knock on the head was just what I needed. It's just... all the gingers in time and space," there was a mischievous twinkle in his eyes as his mouth quirked up into a smile, giving off the image of an innocent little schoolboy, "and I had to end up with Boudicca in a miniskirt!"
Amy protested indignantly, insisting that her skirt was just long enough to meet regulation. Well, it may have been a little on the short side, seeing as it had been salvaged from her old kissogram costume after her last good skirt had gotten ripped beyond repair. Bloody thing was too long to chase after suspects around town in.
I clearly need a beta reader...

on 2010-04-21 08:23 pm (UTC)I'd offer my beta services when you're done, but I wonder how reliable I'd be. I'm kinda starting with 5 and bouncing all over the place with watching Dr Who and there a some seasons I haven't seen yet. ^^;

on 2010-04-21 08:31 pm (UTC)Served him right, biting into a hot pepper like it was a fresh picked orchiberry, he thought as he ran a hand through his hair, still coughing and wheezing. Pity the little girl didn't have a bunch of the indigo sticky-like-jam fruit, but he would have to make do with whatever Earth food that didn't make his taste buds curl in disgust. At least until the next time he popped over to the twelfth moon of Vanda Pachara II another little look-see...

on 2010-04-21 08:34 pm (UTC)Sure. Just email me at quirkyslayer[at]gmail[dot]com when you're done. :)
I've seen the movie with Eight, season 1 with Nine, and I'm halfway through season 2 with Ten, and I'm watching five with Eleven. If I'm confused about something canon, I usually just look it up. :)
